Remember the Mitten Tree…Here’s News from Lithuania

A wonderful woman from one of the more impoverished areas in Lithuania and who spends countless hours working with the poor at the Saunci United Methodist church in Kaunas, sent this thank you to Vincent UMC for the caps and gloves we sent hem in December. She took a great deal of time to write this letter to us in English, and these are her words to us:(this e-mail was sent to Lou.)

“We send the best wishes from Kaunas Saunciai UMC. Every Sunday we pray for you, your families, your works, that all are well. We thank you a thousand times for a wonderful presents. We thank God for our friendship. God made miracles. You live so far, but you know our needs. People were happy. In the week we got presents the temperature was -30 degrees. A lot of people did not have gloves. Their hands were blue color from cold. It was surprise for them and us..Thank you once more. We are happy that you will come to us you can live in my house. When will you come?

Jonas and Alma still work in the prisons and with poor people.

On Christmas Day we celebrated with poor people very interesting. We put the Christmas tree on the car and we made a lot of cakes. We make 120 presents (meals). We prayed together. They were happy.

God Bless You,

With Love,

Danute, Alma and Jonas Kaunas
Sanciai UMC
