The Gospel According to Summer: pt. 5 "The Thirst Beneath the Thirst"

Do not make the Samaritan woman merely an example of moral failure. A better approach: Jesus takes her thirst seriously. He meets her at the place of daily need and reveals that ordinary thirst can open into holy longing.

We often misread our thirst. We chase comfort, approval, distraction, control, or achievement, not always because we are rebellious, but because we are thirsty.
